NOTICE: The Town of Chesapeake Beach issues notice that an automated speed enforcement program is in place effective September 12, 2019 westbound along Old Bayside Rd. Within the Beach Elementary School Zone a camera will be effectively in place for enforcement traveling west bound on September 26, 2019. The Town of Chesapeake Beach recently conducted a study for a one week period in August of 2019, along Old Bayside Rd., that showed 444 vehicles were traveling up to 12 MPH over a 20 MPH speed limit and 71 vehicles were traveling over 12 MPH over a 20 MPH speed limit. According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Study, the chances of a pedestrian surviving being struct by a vehicle decreases by 70%; between the speed of 20 MPH and 40 MPH.
