Upcoming Town Meetings and Important Town Notices

NOTICE: The Rod and Reel parking garage project has reached a point where they will be bringing in a large crane to erect large precast concrete beams and structures. This work is Starting February 15th and continuing for 8 to 10 weeks. This will create a flagging operation on Mears Avenue as the trucks arrive and leave. There are no permanent lane closures’ scheduled. The contractor will be using flag men to stop traffic to let the trucks in and out of the project due to their size. As the contractor provides details we will continue to relay the information to residents.

MOSQUITO CONTROL — Mosquito season will be here before you know it.  Please be advised that if you DO NOT want your property area sprayed you MUST request to be put on the DO NOT SPRAY list.  If you are in an area that would require Mosquito Control to enter onto private property (driveways), you ALSO must request to be put on the ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY list.  You must submit a signed request form.  To receive a request form, please contact Sharon at shumm@chesapeakebeachmd.gov or by calling town hall at 410-257-2230.  DEADLINE is March 29, 2019.

Comprehensive Plan Community Engagement – We want to hear from residents!  Please visit www.planchesapeakebeachmd.gov for up to date information from the Planning and Zoning Commission, complete a survey to provide your feedback and follow the 

Comprehensive planning progress.  Please visit or call Town Hall for assistance completing the survey or if you would like a paper copy of the survey mailed to your home.   A computer is available in the Town Hall lobby for ease of access to the survey.

The Chesapeake Beach Water Park is currently seeking adults that are looking for Part-Time and/or Seasonal Work to apply as Cashiers for our 25th Anniversary Season! The CBWP is a great place to make supplemental income, choose flexible hours, and work in a fun, fast-paced, energetic environment! The Chesapeake Beach Water Park is now taking sign-ups for Orientations for all Positions for the 2019 Summer Season.  All interviews for all positions will be conducted at these Job Specific Orientations on the dates listed on our website. We hire starting at age 14 for Customer Service Specialists (CSSs), and Runners in the Food and Beverage  Department.  Grillers working in our Beachcomber Grille must be 15 years old. To sign up as a lifeguard you must be 15 year of age by May 25, 2019.  Cashier’s must be 17 years of age. To sign up for the Orientation for the position of your choice visit our website . Working at the Chesapeake Beach Water park is a wonderful way to spend your summer!

B Street Update – The Town Council awarded a contract for the repairs to the exposed retaining wall along the B Street slope as well as the repairs to the Boardwalk. Work is expected to start within the next week with an anticipated completion by March. The Town released a Request for Sealed Proposals for the B street sewer line move from the shoreline to B street. The proposals for this work will be review by the Mayor and Town Council at the February work session with a contract award expected to take place at the February Town Council meeting.

February 19 at 6:00 pm – Twin Beach Opioid Abuse Awareness Committee meets at Chesapeake Beach Town Hall — Business meeting of the TBOAA Committee. The public is invited to attend. If you have been affected by the opioid crisis, we want to hear your story or your ideas on how we can better help those suffering from addiction in our community.
