Chesapeake Beach Happenings

Due to high summer temperatures, trash / recycle pickup may occur prior to 6am.  Please put material out the night before a scheduled pickup.

The Chesapeake Beach Faststop has agreed to place a jar in the store for loose change and donations for the American Legion Auxiliary on behalf of the Maryland Center for Veteran Education and Training (MCVET). The company will give us a 100% match of the amount collected in the jar​. The fundraising started on August 1 and will continue until August 31st. Please visit Faststop and donate to this worthy cause.

August 22 – Chesapeake Beach Water Park – Resident Appreciation Day, ½ price until 4 pm; Free after 4.

August 22 – The SHA bridge project is tentatively scheduled to complete the beam erection portion of construction on Tuesday, August 22nd from 10:00 pm until approximately 4:00 am. During this time, SHA will position the barge in the Fishing Creek channel on the Bay side of the bridge. Boaters that utilize the Fishing Creek channel should plan on not having access during this time period. Residents should also plan for a lane closure while the work is being completed.   Please reach out to Town Hall with any questions at (410)257-2230.

August 26 – 7 – 9 pm – Rod N Reel Dock – The Town of Chesapeake Beach Invites you to join us for the last Moonlight Cruise of the season.  The theme is “Jimmy Buffett” music.  Wear your favorite Buffett attire for a chance at a prize gift bag; one awarded to the best dressed man and the best dressed woman.  This cruise is not suitable for children.  To purchase tickets visit Town Hall or online here .

September 5 – Back to school at Beach Elementary.  As the 2017-2018 school year begins, we’d like to remind everyone to be extra cautious as you drive around our Town.   Also, we’d like to remind residents and parents of Beach Elementary students to be mindful of their parking and to not block mailboxes and driveways along Old Bayside Rd. from Rt. 261 to & “D” Street.

September 9 – 1– 5 pm – Kellam’s Field (3825 Gordon Stinnett Ave.). “Taste the Beaches,” a festival where local restaurants, Bay Wine and Spirits, Greenspring Brewery and specialty craft experts are joining together to showcase their products and services.  Attendees will be able to sample food options, purchase beer & wine, explore town venues such as Chesapeake Bay Oyster Cultivation Society (CBOCS), Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail, North Beach Boardwalk events and the Farmers’ Market.  ​Note that the adjacent Chesapeake Beach Water Park will be closed for the season after September 4th.   Entertainment will include an Emcee, live music and raffle drawings for prizes. ​The Kids Zone will have a large inflatable double slide, Chesapeake Mermaid, Face painting by Cre8tive Impulses, Arabella the Pirate performing balloon art, Special Guest Appearances by children’s favorite characters, Kona Ice sno-cone truck and much more! September 9 – 1 – 5 pm.  Volunteers Needed @ Taste The Beaches Festival, Kellam’s Field Parking Lot. Four CBOCS members are needed to show off our oysters, play the cornhole game, conduct Railway Trail Walks.  Contact johnbacon1@comcast.net .

September 9 – COUNTRY DANCE.  For a fun time, come to the Country Dance in the upper level Ballroom at the American Legion Stallings-Williams Post 206 on Route 260 in Chesapeake Beach.  If you can’t dance, teachers will be available to give free instruction.  One-hour lessons commence at 7:00 p.m. followed by dancing to the tunes of the Southern Winds Band. from8:00 p.m. until 11:30. Themodest price of $15.00 per person includes fountain soft drinks or draft beer, pretzels, and chips.  Public Welcome.   For information call 410-257-9878.
